3 Student YouTubers share how they thrive in University

When it comes to surviving University, time management is key. Beyond finding the time to study, you have to also squeeze out time to socialise with your family (or friends), and to do the things you want to do. In this regard, the adage, “Choose between social, study, and sleep” has never been truer.

Thankfully, there are plenty of educational videos that offer a slice of campus life on YouTube. Here, we have scoured and curated some of the most insightful YouTubers — two of which are local — who are (or were) undergraduates and have shared some tips on University life. Read on to find out more!

Daniel ‘Tamago’

Daniel Tamago: How I got into the Dean’s List using ACTIVE RECALL

Having graduated from the National University of Singapore recently, Daniel Tam (or as he introduces himself as “Daniel Tamago”) is now pursuing his passion for content creation as an Executive Producer with Parallax Collective. On his YouTube channel, the young content creator uploads a variety of lifestyle videos, including vlogs about his school life, working out, and more.

Undergraduates or freshies will definitely benefit from binging on his slew of productivity videos. For the uninitiated, the university graduate is a hustler, often seen working and studying back in the days. He advocates using tried-and-tested study techniques, such as Active Recall, and using productivity tools, such as NOTION. Casual, meticulous, and in no way boring, his videos offer practical tips and advice that worked for him (and many others).

Leo Ngiam

Leon Ngiam: How I take note as a 1st year NUS LAW student

NUS Law undergraduate Leon Ngiam has an educational YouTube channel, which proffers content for Secondary School, Junior College, and University students. With a humble following of about only 1,400 followers, Leon’s channel is an underrated gem. The videos he produces are well-organised, concise, and eloquent — what can we expect from a lawyer-to-be, right?

In one of his videos, he advocates University students to take notes in class and classify them into four categories: “Learning Notes”, “Reading Summary”, “Lecture Notes”, and “Exams Notes”. By compartmentalising this way, you will eventually expose yourself to the same content multiple times and have the content better ingrained in your memory.
