Read on to find out our recommendations on what to catch this coming May!
Mine
One of tvN’s biggest Spring dramas, “Mine” follows the story of two South Korean women —Seo Hee-Soo (portrayed by Lee Bo-Young, who previously acted in “I Hear Your Voice”) and Jung Seo-Hyun (portrayed by Kim Seo-Hyung, who previously acted in “Sky Castle”) — struggling to find their true selves, while breaking free themselves of their prejudices, after they marry into an affluent family.
Mine will be available on Netflix from 8 May 2021.
Castlevania: Season 4
Season 4 of the animated series, which is based on the acclaimed Konami video game, will be its last. Season 1 was first launched in 2017 and it was Netflix’s first original anime series which quickly garnered a devoted following. The dark medieval fantasy series follows the last surviving member of the Belmont clan, Trevor Belmont, as he attempts to stop the series villain Vlad Tepes Dracula. Interestingly, while “Castlevania: Season 4” is the last, Netflix is considering creating a new series based on the world.
Castlevania: Season 4 will be available on Netflix from 13 May 2021.
Move To Heaven
In this South Korean drama, actor Tang Joon-Sang plays a young man with Asperger’s Syndrome. Together with his father, they run a business arranging items left by the deceased. When his father passes away, he is introduced to his uncle, Sang-Koo (portrayed by Lee Je-Hoon), a cold individual who was incarcerated for his involvement at an underground fight rink. The duo partners up and continues running the family business, “Move To Heaven”, together.
Move To Heaven will be available on Netflix from 14 May 2021.
Love, Death & Robots: Volume 2
Following the success of its previous season, “Love, Death & Robots: Volume 2” returns to Netflix this May with eight short animated episodes. Devoid of an overarching storyline, each of the episodes in this adult animated anthology series boasts content that deals with each of the titular themes. From cleverly hilarious cartoons to dark animation reminiscent of old-school videogames, each episode is animated by a widely talented crew of animators from different countries. The streaming giant also announced it will debut Volume 3, also comprising 8 episodes, the following year.
Love, Death & Robots: Volume 2 will be available from 14 May 2021.
Army of the Dead
From acclaimed filmmaker Zack Synder (Zack Synder’s “Justice League”), “Army of the Dead” follows a zombie outbreak that leaves Las Vegas as a devastated wasteland. In this genre of monster mash-up, Scott Ward (portrayed by Dave Baustista from “Guardians of the Galaxy”), a former zombie war hero, is approached by casino boss Bly Tanaka (portrayed by Hiroyuki Sanada) with a proposition: retrieve $200million from a safe in the zombie-laden land before it is nuked by the government. Put simply, it’s a fusion of “The Walking Dead” and “Ocean’s 11”, or as they call it a zombie heist.
Army of the Dead will be available on Netflix 21 May 2021.
Lucifer: S5-Part 2
The Netflix Original series “Lucifer” has come a long way. From being cancelled on Fox in 2018, and then receiving immense trend on Twitter (with the ever-iconic #SaveLucifer), before it was picked up by Netflix, fans will be glad to know that Season 5-Part 2 will debut later in May. In fact, the production has also announced that Season 6 is in the works too. But for all that we know, we can expect the Lord of Hell, starring Tom Ellis, to be up to his classic antics in the upcoming season.
Lucifer: S5-Part 2 will be available on Netflix from 28 May 2021.
