The month of June sees Singapore preparing to exit the Circuit Breaker phase and gearing towards resuming our way of life as it should be. But while we still have quite a fair bit to go, many of us may still see themselves working from home in the short-run.
In times of transitions and stress, we have our favourite TV streaming service, Netflix, to keep us occupied and entertained. For the month of June, Netflix will see several new shows in the midst, but what truly stands out is the plethora of binge-worthy K-drama to watch. Read on to find out more!

My Shy Boss
When a bubbly and daring employee, Chae Ro-woon (Park Hye-su), joins a Public Relations firm, she makes it her mission to get acquainted with her introverted and oft-misunderstood boss, Eun Hwan-ki (Yeon Woo-jin), and show the world who he really is. But little did we know that Hwan-ki is heavily traumatised by his ex-secretary’s death some three years ago, and as it turns out the late-secretary happens to be Ro-woon’s sister.

The Tale of Nokdu
The premise of this rom-com period drama is funny to say the least. A man (Jang Dong-yoon) disguises himself as a woman to live with a mysterious women-only village to unravel the mysteries of his past. There, he meets a young woman (seasoned period drama actress, Kim So-hyun), who is training to be a kisaeng — outcast women who are trained to be courtesans who provide entertainment to the upper-class men — and has a plot to assassinate the king. This 2019 South-Korean drama has won several notable awards, including “Excellent Actor”, “Excellent Actress” and “Best Couple” to list a few, in the 2019 KBS Drama Awards last year, and I supposed these are testaments to how much chemistry the actors have with each other.

Doctor Prisoner
When an ace doctor (Namgung-Min) gets accused of medical malpractice, he gets ousted out of a hospital and sent to a prison. Taking on the role of the medical chief in the prison hospital there, he vows to avenge himself by acquiring the right connections to enact vengeance. Brimming with mind games and ruses, viewers would soon get acquainted with both the flawed protagonist and dysfunctional villain. And while the plot may seem long-winded at first glance, we can guarantee that none of the scenes are dragged and the plot twists within this 2019 thriller is enough to set you on edge.

Lovely Horribly
Oh Eul Soon (Song Ji-hyo) lives a life of misfortune, while Phillip Yeo (Park Si Hoo) seems to be gifted with immense luck. And as destiny has it, the two are inevitably bounded together with one person receiving happiness at the expense of the other. As the duo start to bicker, get along and fall in love, they soon come to realized that the events from the screenplay they are working on together are coming to life.

When a professional conman (Choi Si-won) unknowingly marries a detective (Lee Yoo-Young), he eventually ends up running to for the National Assembly. Little did he know, the daughter from one of his con victims is plotting a plan to take him down.

It’s Okay To Not Be Okay
The much-anticipated drama sees the return of princely Kim Soo-hyun taking on a major role on the television screen after five years. This would also be Kim Soo-hyun’s first project since his discharge from South Korea’s military service. In “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay”, Moon Kang Tae (Kim Soo-hyun), who works in a psychiatric ward as a community health worker, meets an author (Seo Ye-Ji) who is suffering from antisocial personality disorder. The new series seems to promise to be a tearjerker and dabble on the topic of mental health and mental illness.

In other words, you can bet things turning raunchier.
