While some of us might begin to falter and go green with envy at others, it’s good to go on a self-impose social media ban and be reminded that going down the spiral of self-loathe isn’t worth it.

What: In a world where eldritch creatures respond to the slightest noise, a family must learn to live in silence amid the ongoing chaos. In case, the cringe-worthy Valentine’s Day shows and movies aren’t to your liking, here’s one to keep you on edge.

4. Cable Girls

What: Set in 1920, this Spanish period drama tells how four women learn to navigate in their new progressive work environment at a telecommunications company. We have come a long way since the 1900s, and while gender inequality isn’t as extensive as it was in the past, Cable Girls carry some facet of modern feminist message that is worth visiting.

5. Our Souls At Night

What: Two long-time neighbours, a widow and a widower, decide to sleep together at night (platonically) to alleviate their loneliness. Little did they know their relationship would develop into something deeper. Our Souls At Night passes off as the ideal cinematic chicken soup on a lonely Valentine’s Day.

6. Julie and Julia
Starring Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Stanley Tucci
What: A young blogger is determined to successfully test out every single recipe from legendary French chef Julia Child’s cookbook. Julie and Julia is an iconic film that features an award-winning cast (Amy Adams and Meryl Streep) and plays off as a lighthearted film that appeals to anyone who love food. (P.S. It is okay to binge while watching this one.)

The award-winning film may seem draggy and slow at the start, but trust us, you are bound to get the silver lining at the end.

What: In a world where relationships can be as confounding as they are complex, four men and five women struggle to make sense of their on-going relationships with their partners. The plot for this film may seem rather convoluted at first glance, but I guarantee that the episodes that surround each character is extremely relatable today.

9. The Break-Up
Starring Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Aniston, Joey Lauren Adams
What: Two couples, played by Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn, decide to call it quits, but none of them are willing to move out of their shared apartment. What ensues is a series of hilarity where each of them attempts to outsmart, outwit and outlast the other with a bunch of underhand tactics in the mix to become the worst roommates in history. And yes, nothing quite satisfy the way how two lovers execute revenge on each other.

10. To All The Boys. P.S. I Still Love You
Starring Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, Jordan Fisher
What: Following the highly-popular prequel, P.S. I Still Love You is your typical teenage-college romance drama that makes you want to believe in love again. Here, a budding love triangle is about to unfold and witness how the protagonist, Lara Jean (Lana Condor), manages her relationship with Peter (Noah Centineo).

This new K-drama stars Yoon Hyun-Min, who plays the double role of a charismatic AI hologram and the creator with an entirely different personality, and Ko Sung-hee as a meek and socially awkward woman.
13. Good Girls
Starring Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman, Retta, Manny Motana
What: When living by the rules do them no justice, three suburban moms risk everything to get what they want. In other words, these bad-ass and unapologetic women are bound to teach you something on sisterhood, motherhood and being your own boss.

14. Grace and Frankie
Starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Sam Waterson, Martin Sheen
