With the holiday season fast approaching, our favourite TV streaming service, Netflix, has once again beef up its game to proffer a series of binge-worthy and exciting films and shows to catch in November.

Whether you are spending your $100 SingapoRediscover tourism vouchers at a hotel staycation or just cooped up at home, I’m sure there would be one or two shows that would catch your attention on Netflix. November is looking to be an eventful month, read on to find out more.
Voice 2
Not exactly a brand-new drama, this 2018 South-Korean TV drama is still worth mentioning. Known for its thrilling and mysterious plot, the premise of this trilogy is set around an emergency 112-call centre and revolves around how South-Korean investigators solve crimes using the sound they hear. Season 2 pits the team from Golden Time Centre against a serial killer.

Army Daze
This is an old-school Singaporean classic that dates back to 1996. The comedy film is based on the theatre play of the same name, which was written by Singaporean writer Michael Chiang. The plot? A group of 18-year-old boys (of different ethnic and religious backgrounds, no less) beginning their two-year-long training as National Servicemen. A lighthearted film with plenty of relatable moments for Singaporean men, the show is all about camaraderie and national pride. If you find yourself liking the films from “Ah Boys To Men” series, you would find this amusing and hilarious too.

The Crown: Season 4
Set in the late-1970s, Queen Elizabeth (played by Olivia Colman) and her family find themselves needing to safeguard the line of succession by securing an appropriate bride for Prince Charles (played by Josh O’Connor), who is still unmarried at the age of 30 years old. The latest season will also pit Queen Elizabeth against the nation’s first female Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (played by Gillian Anderson) who is leading the country into the Falklands Wars.
The Crown Season will be available on Netflix on 15 November 2020.
The Princess Switch: Switched Again
Start the festive celebrations early by catching a quintessential Christmas film. The sequel to last year’s “The Princess Switch” stars Vanessa Hudgens taking on three roles: Duchess Margaret Delacourt, the newly appointed princess Stacy DeNovo, and the Duchess’ cousin Fiona. Considering how its prequel is witty and humorous, I am sure there will be plenty of interesting shenanigans in this family-friendly film too.
The Princess Switch: Switched Again will be available on Netflix on 19 November 2020.
Shawn Mendes: In Wonder
Catch teenage heartthrob Shawn Mendes in his first ever Netflix documentary this November. Film over the course of his previous world tour, the documentary will highlight the 22-year-old singer-songwriter in an unprecedented light as he grappled with the physical and emotional strain throughout his 104-show tour. Set to the tune of his newest single, “Wonder”, you can also expect plenty of Camila Cabello in the midst too.
Shawn Mendes: In Wonder will be available on Netflix on 23 November 2020.
Hillbilly Elegy
Based on the best-selling memoir by American author J.D. Vance, the plot of this American drama film tells the modern exploration of the American Dream through three generations of an Appalachian family. The protagonist, J.D. Vance (played by Gabriel Basso) who was a former marine and a Yale law student, unwillingly finds himself back home, a place he has tried to disregard. Like the memoir, the film will explore Vance’s volatile relationship with his mother Bev (played by Amy Adams) who was struggling with an addiction as well as his resilient grandmother (played by Glenn Close) who has raised him.
Hillbilly Elegy will be available on Netflix on 24 November 2020.
The Call
The greatly anticipated South Korean mysterious thriller film starring Park Shin-hye will soon arrive on Netflix. In “The Call”, a woman returns to her former home and finds an old phone, which somehow connects her to a woman who has lived in the same house some 20 years ago.
The Call will be available on Netflix on 27 November 2020.
The Uncanny Counter
Starring Joe Byeong-gyu, Yu Jun-sang, Kim Se-jeong, Yum Hye-Ran, and Ahn Suk-Hwan, this South Korean drama sees a group of ghost catchers, who call themselves “Counter”, arriving on Earth to rid the planet of evil entities. To do so, this group of ghost catchers disguise themselves as employees of a noodle restaurant.
The Uncanny Counter will be available on Netflix on 28 November 2020.
